One person has been arrested and an investigation is underway following shots fired during an the armed robbery in Carnes Hill

A man has been detained and an investigation has begun after an armed robbery where shots were fired at the shopping center in Sydney’s south-west.

Around 4.45pm (Monday 24 Oct 2022) emergency assistance was called out to the jewelry shop located in a shopping mall located on Kurrajong Road, Carnes Hill following reports of an Armed burglary.

Police have learned that two men went into the store and broke glass display cabinets. Eventually, an assault rifle was fired, and the two left the scene carrying jewelry.

There are none of reports that physical injury has occurred.

On arrival, the officers were directed towards a motorbike which was located outside the mall.

The male passenger was detained by police and the vehicle left the scene. In the course of an investigation of the man, police confiscated a firearm as well as several pieces of jewelry.
