The average annual growth rate of passenger and goods throughputs is expected to be 3.5-3.8% and 0.9-1, respectively, by 2050.

The master plan for the development of Vietnam’s maritime port system between 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 identifies five categories of seaports. Group 4 includes those located in HCM City and Dong Nai as well as Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Binh Duong.

HCM City will adapt its investment in its transport infrastructure, inland ports system and logistics centers to realize these goals.

The city will also coordinate with the Ministry of Transport to plan international passenger ports that are associated with key tourist development areas. It will also study planning and invest soon in the construction of an international transshipment container terminal in Can Gio district.
