Lausch has been the DOJ official who was in charge of the investigation into Biden’s wrongful keeping of classified documents prior to the time when Special Counsel Robert Hur was appointed. The Star BulletinNews has learned Lausch continues to play an integral role in the probe while Hur is getting up to speed.

The FBI search started early on Friday at 9:00 a.m. and ended Friday night, around 10:30 p.m.

Biden’s personal lawyer Bob Bauer said Saturday evening the search included “all living, working and storage spaces of the house.”

“At the beginning of the matter the President instructed his personal lawyers to fully cooperate with the Department of Justice,” Bauer explained. “Accordingly having previously discovered and provided to DOJ the existence of a few documents bearing markings of classification in the President’s Wilmington residence and in the interests of moving this process forward in the quickest manner possible we offered the President with access to his residence in order for DOJ in conducting a comprehensive search through the entire property to find any records of the vice-president and other classified documents.”

Bauer confirmed that in agreement in conjunction with Justice Department, representatives of Biden’s personal legal staff as well as his personal legal team as well as the White House Counsel’s Office were present during the search. There was no president or first lady were in attendance at the time of the search.

“DOJ was granted full access to the president’s residence and personal notes, files, documents memorabilia, binders, agendas, to-do lists and reminders that date into the past,” Bauer continued.

“DOJ was able to take possession of the materials that it believed to be within the scope of its inquiry. These included six documents that had markings for classification and the materials surrounding them, some of which came from president’s position within the Senate and others were related to his time as Vice President” Bauer said. “DOJ also requested to examination handwritten notes written by the Vice President during the vice-presidential time period.”

Biden quit his position in the U.S. Senate in 2008 to serve as vice-president to the former president Barack Obama.

Bauer said that the team of the president has “attempted to make sure that the public benefits from transparency, when appropriate, with established rules and restrictions that are necessary to ensure the integrity of the investigation.”

“We intend to keep doing this throughout the duration of our collaboration together with DOJ,” Bauer said.

In the statement, Bauer mentions his assertion that his Justice Department took “six items comprising documents bearing classified markings,” it is unclear the precise number of classified documents found during the investigation.

“The White House Counsel’s Office and the President’s Lawyers White House Counsel’s Office will continue to work together with DOJ as well as the Special Counsel in order to make sure that the process is completed quickly and efficiently.” White House counsel Richard Sauber stated in a statement released on Saturday evening.
