The president Joe Biden on Friday is scheduled to visit a Southern California communications firm anticipated to gain from his push for legislation to boost American semiconductor manufacturing and he’s also taking an unpopular Democratic congressman along with him.

Biden will be joined by Rep. Mike Levin for the visit to Carlsbad-headquartered Viasat as he looks to highlight the CHIPS and Science Act, a $280 billion legislative package, ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections. The bill is among the Biden administration’s biggest legislative accomplishments.

Kevin McCarthy of California is the House majority leader will be running alongside GOP candidate Keith Pekau in the district on Friday.
