Antioch Man arrested in shooting that wounded a Mother and 8-Year-Old in Pittsburg

The Pittsburg Police Department announced the arrest of a shooter on Friday which left an 8-year-old son and his parents injured.

In the words of Pittsburg Police, they located and were able to arrest the suspect of the shooting incident which took place on the evening of Friday, 14th of October, at the junction of Davi Ave. and Civic Ave. The officers confirmed the identity of the person in question as 35-year old Javier Gonzalez of Antioch. Multiple leads from the investigation assisted in the identification and finding of Gonzalez who was later arrested and held on the attempted murder and child endangerment charges.

On October 14, at 9:06 pm, officers arrived at the intersection between Davi Avenue and Civic Avenue in response to the report of a shooting that had just occurred. As officers arrived, they found two mothers and an 8 year old boy suffering from shooting wounds.

The child was wounded with only a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound in the right shoulder. the woman was wounded by multiple gunshot injuries. Medical personnel and police officers offered assistance to both victims, and then both were transported to hospitals in the area. Both victims are now in the hospital and are in stable condition.

The initial investigation found it was the case of victims along Civic Avenue when another car struck them. The driver of that vehicle fired multiple shots at their vehicle. The victim’s vehicle was in a state of disarray and the suspect car left the scene.

It was not an unintentional incident of violence. The investigation revealed that this was a domestic-violence-related crime because the victim and suspect were friends and the suspect targeted her.

Officers have interviewed several witnesses to the incident . They have utilized our citywide surveillance system to locate and find the suspect.
