After the release of the final episode of Sweet Magnolias at a crossroad, fans are waiting for the renewal of the season. Now Netflix has come with a concrete date of the release. Find out the details of what you know about the romantic comedy feel-good drama.
Sweet Magnolias season 2 – Release date
Netflix has announced that the show will premiere on Friday, February 4. There will be 10 episodes, each of one hour.
It is assumed that the filming of season 2 had wrapped up. This was guessed by an Instagram post shared by JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who plays Maddie.
“Bittersweet feelings because I’m going to miss this group so much,” she wrote. “But I’m so proud and EXCITED for all of you to see what we have been cooking up in Serenity and can’t wait for this dream team of a cast and crew to (hopefully!) be reunited ASAP to continue the journey!”
Sweet Magnolias Season 2 – Cast
It is expected that all the stars in the previous season will return in the second installation also. Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Helen (Heather Headley), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott), Bill (Chris Klein), Cal (Justin Bruening), Tyler (Carson Rowland), Kyle (Logan Allen) and Annie (Anneliese Judge), will be there in the show
Jamie Lynn Spears (Noreen), Dion Johnstone (Dana Sue’s head chef Erik), and Brandon Quinn (Dana Sue’s estranged husband Ronnie) have also been promoted to series regulars.
In a recent interview with Parade, the director Sheryl J Anderson teased several new arrivals: “We certainly have some great thoughts about new citizens of Serenity. There will be new alliances between existing citizens of Serenity.”
Even Though she didn’t give clues on who the new arrival is, it’s clear that these “alliances” will heavily impact the show moving forward. One new person who will be appearing in the second installation is Adelynn Spoon, best known for HBO’s Watchmen.
Sweet Magnolias Season 2- Plot
Sweet magnolias is a feel-good series about friendship and family set in a fictional South Carolina town. Lifelong friends Maddie, HelenHelen, and Dane Sue lift each other as they juggle over relationships and careers in the small southern town of Serenity in South Carolina. Every episode shows the warmness of bonding and their weekly margarita nights are just awesome. They later decide to become business partners and open a spa. This spa is the setting and backdrop for a whole lot of drama and the story progresses.
Maddie, who is the main character, is in her 40 s and is getting a divorce because her husband Bill, who is a doctor, cheated on her with one of his nurses and got her pregnant. Maddie and Bill have 3 kids together and the story also deals with the teenage issues she has to deal with.
Dana Sue is a head chef at Sullivan, one of the main restaurants in town. She is separated from her husband and has a teenage daughter. She has great commanding power and is a bossy character, which is disliked by her daughter.
Helen is a lawyer and is unmarried. She is a cool character, smart and intelligent. As the story progresses, she discovers what she wants in her life. She has a couple of potential love interests and has lots of drama around her.
Anyway, fans are thrilled to see their favorite characters on the screen once again. Gear up your spirits and wait for the sweet moments the series is going to give you.
