Twitter has decided to Permanently Suspends Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Account from the platform as he violated the covid 19 misinformation policy of the company.
Twitter announced on Sunday its banning of the controversial US lawmaker and businesswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene from the platform, she is the first congresswoman ever to be taken off Twitter. Her account will be banned permanently on the platform.
The company suspended the personal account of Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene for “repeated violations” of its Covid misinformation policy, Twitter said Sunday.
“We permanently suspended the account you referenced (@mtgreenee) for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy,” Twitter said in a statement. “We’ve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Response to the Ban
Greene posted about her suspension on Facebook, where she has about as many followers as her Twitter account did. “The Silicon Valley Cartel finally pulled the trigger,” she wrote. “Twitter has permanently suspended my account. Big Tech is the enemy of Free Speech. We will not forget! ” She then suggested that people follow her on Telegram, an encrypted messaging platform that has around 600 million users.
In a statement on messaging app, telegram green accuses Twitter of being an enemy to America, adding that social media platforms can’t stop the truth from being spread far and wide. The Republican congresswoman from Georgia has previously faced short-term suspensions from Twitter over tweets that violated the platform Covid 19 misinformation policy. At least 2 other republican members of the house have been temporarily suspended from Twitter.
Greene is a controversial figure, who apologized last June for comparing mass mandates and vaccinations to the holocaust. This is not the first time she is getting into trouble for her statements.
Greene’s fourth strike in August brought a temporary suspension from Twitter after she falsely claimed that neither vaccines nor masks could reduce the transmission of COVID. Both masks and vaccines are effective at reducing the spread of the virus, of course, and such misinformation could lead to panic among the public.
What is Twitter’s Misleading Information Policy?
According to Covid 19 misleading information policy of Twitter, any content that is demonstrably false or misleading or has the potential to lead to a significant risk of harm (such as increased exposure to the virus or adverse effects on public health systems) may not be shared on Twitter.
For the content to be considered violative under this policy, the content should either advance a claim of fact, expressed in definitive terms, be demonstrably false or misleading, based on widely available, authoritative sources, and be likely to impact public safety or cause serious harm.
There is a strike system that works on a range of 1-5 and the consequences of violating the policies are rated accordingly. A permanent suspension is carried out if the account holder has been given five or more strikes.
