US Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) Afreen Akhter has stated that”the United States sees Bangladesh as an “truly significant Strategic partner” and is looking ahead to working with Bangladesh over the next fifty years to build better relations.
She stated that over the last 50 years, relations between the United States and Bangladesh have witnessed tremendous progress between peoples, governments and economies.
People-to-people connections between these two countries are in-depth, she said.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC celebrated the 52nd Victory Day of Bangladesh, honoring the courageous freedom fighters who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of long-sought-for independence.
To mark the occasion in honor of the day, the Embassy organized a full day of events.
The day’s opening part of the program started with the raising of the flag of the nation at the Chancery early in the morning in the morning by Bangladesh ambassador in America, United States Muhammad Imran.

The Ambassador then, together with the officials and staff of the embassy put an elm wreath on the monument of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the Bangabandhu Corner of the Embassy.
The messages that were released on the occasion of Victory Day by President Md. Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar alam were read by the Deputy Chief of mission Ferdousi Shahriar the Minister (Commerce) Dr. Salim Reza and counselor (Public Diplomacy) Arifa Rahman Ruma and Counsellor (Political-I) Mohammad Moniruzzman.
An especial prayer offered in the hope of peace, progress, and growth of the nation. eternal peace for the souls of martyrs from the Liberation War and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was presented.
