Al Hansen will be honored Saturday at the Plane Crazy event

Al Hansen will be honored Saturday at the Plane Crazy event – News reports that November’s Plane Crazy Saturday will be held at Space Port Rutan Field and Mojave Air. It will be honoring Al Hansen, a local enthusiast in aviation.

Hansen was born December 30, 1930. He moved to Mojave, California in 1956 after completing his military service. Hansen was a general contractor and a vintage aircraft re-builder. He also owned and collected. 

Hansen first arrived in Mojave in 1947 along with his father, Dr. Homer Hansen. He worked at the Hansen Wilderness Ranch near Mojave. For 25 years, he was involved in renting his aircraft to film production.

His wife, Cathy Hansen is the president of Mojave Transportation Museum and sponsor of Plane Crazy Saturday.

Al Hansen will be honored Saturday at the Plane Crazy event

A plaque in honor of Hansen will be unveiled at Legacy Park at 11 am Saturday. A flyover will follow at noon, weather permitting.

After the ceremony at the park, the special presentation for this month will be Al Hansen Flying Adventures in the MASP Board Room.

Plane Crazy Saturday will also collect unwrapped toys to donate to the Mojave CHP – ChiPs for Children! To donate, attendees are requested to bring an unwrapped item.

The museum will have historic aircraft, and the Voyager Restaurant opens at 8am.
