US Transportation Command’s Top Leader is in the US 5th Fleet.
U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) hosted the top official for U.S. Transportation Command at U.S. 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain on Feb. 7 in the trip across the Middle East. Middle East.
U.S. Air Force Gen. Jacqueline D. Van Ovost visited with naval officials including Vice Admiral. Brad Cooper, commander of NAVCENT, U.S. 5th Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces. She also spoke with personnel of the defense logistics located in Bahrain and honored top performers at an event outdoors.
“You can’t accomplish anything without logisticians” Van Ovost said to two Sailors and one U.S. Army civilian staff member, to whom she handed out challenge coins. “The mission cannot be accomplished without your help. We appreciate all you do to assist all those across this vast area.”
After this ceremony, Van Ovost conducted a roundtable discussion , which included representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Bahrain, NAVCENT, Defense Logistics Agency and the local Navy as well as Army logistics command.

Van Ovost was also in contact with members of the U.S. Fifth Fleet’s unmanned systems as well as the AI task forces, Task Force 59. The task force’s personnel presented her with new initiatives as she toured the Robotics Operations Center.
“It’s amazing to observe the growth of innovation, and I’m eager to build on our partnership,” said Van Ovost.
U.S. Transportation Command is one of the 11 U.S. combatant commands. The headquarters are in Illinois the command is responsible for ensuring U.S. military mobility platforms and units are prepared to support global requirements, which includes coordinating access, base and authorizations for overflight with partners within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
NAVCENT forces are active throughout the Middle East region, including in the Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, Red Sea, portions of the Indian Ocean and three critical choke points in the Strait of Hormuz, Suez Canal and Bab el-Mandeb.
