Police: Man killed after being shot, and stabbed in Rock Island on Sunday

As per the Police statement, one Man was killed after being shot and one was stabbed in Rock Island on Sunday (9th October 2022).

Shooting on Sunday afternoon in Rock Island has resulted in the deaths of one man and the arrest of another. A 30-year-old man with stab and gunshot wounds was found by Rock Island officers responding to shots fired call around 2:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of 8th Street.

According to police, the man died at the scene from his injuries. Jonathan Rojas-Corasco, 28 years old, was located and taken into custody around 4:30 p.m.

He has been charged with home invasion and two counts of first-degree murder. The bond for Rojas-Corasco was set at $1 million. He is still being held in Scott County Jail until he is extradited to Illinois.

The Rock Island Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is looking into the shooting. Jonathan Rojas-Carrasco, a 28-year-old man, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder and home invasion. According to a Rock Island Police Department news release, authorities are looking into a murder that occurred on Sunday afternoon.

Rock Island police responded to shots fired call in the 1500 block of 8th Street around 2:16 p.m. The Officers found a 40-year-old man who had been shot and stabbed and was unconscious. The victim eventually suffered a wound to the head and died on the spot.

At a nearby hospital, the suspect, identified as Jonathan Rojas-Carrasco, 28 years old, was taken into custody. Before his arrest, it is unknown whether he was receiving treatment at the hospital.

Two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of home invasion are alleged against Rojas-Carrasco. The amount of his bond is $1,000,000.In the event that he is extradited to Illinois, he is being held in the Scott County jail.
