The house, located at 1428 N. Genesee Ave., went up for sale last October, a week before Halloween. What does Nightmare On Elm Street Dream Home look like
Despite its nightmarish movie ties, the house can be seen as a dream home, with 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, along with a pool and a guest house. It’s more like a dream and photos by Anthony Barcelo showcase the property’s spacious kitchen with modern orange topped island counter sitting beneath an array of stylish metallic lamps.
The living room is equally as inviting with French doors allowing for plenty of natural light and access to the backyard. In terms of the sleeping arrangements, photos showcase a spacious bedroom with ceiling lights and walnut floors adding a chic touch.
There are also four bathrooms, including one particularly impressive one with a chic all-white interior. A massive youtube sits near the edge of the room while his and her sinks face a wide mirror on the countertop. The backyard is equally as stunning with a well-manicured yard of grass surrounding a pool. Guests of the future homeowner will be able to rest in seclusion, thanks to a quaint guest house located by the pool.
The facade is iconic but the ties to the movie stop as soon as you walk through the front door. Inside its beautiful traditional style space with a modern twist. Not even Freddy Krueger could resist if he was seeing the present condition of the house.
It’s “a beautiful Dutch Colonial with a modern twist,” according to the listing on Realtor.com. The house sits just off of Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, a few blocks east of the legendary Chateau Marmont hotel. A Whole Foods is also nearby.
While director Wes Craven set his film in the small (and nonexistent) town of Springwood, Ohio, he filmed the exterior shots in Hollywood, in the neighborhood of Spaulding Square. The Los Angeles Times notes that the area’s lack of palm trees and quaint vibe has long made it a favorite for directors shooting movies and TV shows set in the small-town USA.
“The iconic house isn’t just a place of horror. It’s also the location of Bo Burnham: Inside, a solo musical comedy special shot and produced during the height of the pandemic, and a possible Grammy contender.”
