The platform, Spotify has said the podcast show ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ would remain free and accessible to all Spotify users. He also produces many video episodes, which can be watched on Spotify in the format of “vodcasts” as the company refers to the video companions. Joe Rogan is legally tied with Spotify for a contract, and hence his podcast shows are unlikely to make a return to YouTube anytime soon. It is believed that he has signed a multi-year deal with Spotify for a tenth of a billion dollars in exchange for pretty much all of his content on the platform.

Recent controversies 

 There have been lots of responses to the ongoing controversy in which artists including Neil Young and Joni Mitchell came forward to remove their music from the Spotify streaming device as they did not want to share a platform where the podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience is being hosted. After a few minutes after the upload of the video, Rogan apologises to Spotify for the backlash, and details how the podcast may change in the future.

“These podcasts are very strange because they’re just conversations. And oftentimes I have no idea what I’m going to talk about until I sit down and talk to people. And that’s why some of my ideas are not that prepared or fleshed out because I’m having them in real-time, but I do my best and they’re just conversations, and I think that’s also the appeal of the show. It’s one of the things that makes it interesting. So I want to thank Spotify for being so supportive during this time, and I’m very sorry that this is happening to them and that they’re taking so much from it.” Rogan says.

Because of his use of misleading info, the usage of the N-word in several episodes, and other concerns, over 100 episodes were removed from the streaming platform.

Disclaimers will be added to some programs that are still available on Spotify, according to the company. In protest of Rogan’s exclusivity contract, many singers and musicians have taken their tracks from the platform.

In response to this, Rogan released a video apologizing for what he had said. However, he then claimed in a podcast session that the recent scandals are a “political hit job.”
