Dua Lipa is an English singer, songwriter, and model. Her album in association with Warner Bros. Records in 2014 peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart and yielded eight singles, including “Be the One”, “IDGAF”, and the UK number-one single “New Rules”, which also peaked at number six in the US. Her album has been certified platinum in numerous countries and she grabbed the Brit Awards for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act in 2018.
Her next single “One Kiss” peaked at number one in the UK and became the year’s longest-running number-one single by a female artist and she got the Brit Award for Song of the Year. After that, she won the Grammy Awards for Silk City-collaboration “Electricity”.
Later her “Don’t Start Now”, “Levitating”, “Physical” and “Break My Heart” were also charted in the top ten. She has received many accolades, including recognition on the Time 100 Next list (2021). She made her runway debut at Versace’s Spring/Summer 2022 show at Milan Fashion Week.

Dua Lipa was born in London as the eldest child of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa and Dukagjin Lipa and her family is of Muslim heritage. She was musically influenced by her father, who was the lead singer and guitarist of the Kosovan rock band Oda. Lipa started singing at the age of five and attended Fitzjohn’s Primary School and started her music lessons. Lipa moved back to London at age 15 and started uploading her songs to SoundCloud, and on YouTube. She further began modelling with Topshop, and signed with an agency, helping her land a role as a “singer” in an ITV advertisement for The X Factor in 2013, covering the song “Lost in Music” (1979).
Apart from her career, she is also famous for her political and social views. She identifies herself as a feminist and has spoken out against sexism within the music industry, using social media to raise awareness of women’s problems.

She also advocated for social equality amongst the LGBT community and raised a rainbow flag while performing her song “Be the One” in a presentation at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles as part of The Self-Titled tour.
