The public is now free to leave their homes and resume their regular activities, according to the New Brunswick RCMP, who said the hunt for an armed man in Minto is completed and one suspect is in custody.
Around 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, an emergency alert was sent out instructing locals in the Minto area to lock their doors and take cover inside as authorities searched for a man they thought to have a gun and was planning to use it.
The 55-year-old suspect was described as having brown hair.
Police said he was last seen driving a silver four-door Nissan Sentra, but they could not provide a description of his apparel.
Around an hour later, according to the RCMP, they brought a man into custody. Police are still present, continuing their investigation.
